PBET is strongly campaign against Violence against women and work towards Women peace & security and leadership under the banner of Women in Governance (WinG)- Assam. PBET involves in documentation and monitoring of human rights violation in the state, it develops a cadre of human rights monitors in the grassroot level. It regularly conducts trainings, awareness programmes on legal procedures, laws and acts, UN mechanisms for the women human rights defenders.

Women leadership building has always been one of the focus areas of PBET. In the year 2016 PBET with the support from Azim Premzi Phylantropic Initiative and in collaboration with Women in Governance- North East has carried out number of activities in Jorhat and Karbi Anglong. In these process five villages from each District has been selected as focus area for implementation of the project. Under this project a base line survey was done. On the basis of the survey meetings, interfacing, leadership trainings, consultations were organized. Common rural women, potential women leaders and elected women representatives are the target group under this project.

PBET in collaboration with Women in Governance-Assam had been working for the legal rights and remedies for the women survivors. During this process PBET have directly assisted more than three hundred women survivors in their justice process. With the aim of strengthening the voice of the women victims a solidarity group was formed in 2013 comprising of women survivors and it is named as "Women Alliance Against Violence (Nirjatita Mahila Aikya Mancha)". The main aim of this solidarity network is to support women victims of violence and raise issues of justice and rehabilitation of women victims of violence. Now this women group is not only helping each other in their struggle for justice but also taking innovative initiatives for their own livelihood. As a livelihood initiative they have created the Rengani Nursery, Farmer’s Club and Tareng a Trditional Manipuri Weavers Group.

16 days activism against violence against women, 2016

PBET has been observing the International Campaign against Violence against women every year. In the year 2016 also on the eve of VAW campaign PBET had organized discussion meetingson "Girl Education", "Women Empowerment and Women Leadership" and "Women Rights and women security" in different villages of Jorhat District.

In 2016 PBET observed the 16 days activism against violence against women with great enthusiasm in rural areas of Jorhat district. Girl education, women security and women leadership were the topics of discussion for this 16 days activism. During this activism it was tried to involve more and more rural women who are never or had less opportunity for exposure to know their rights and entitlements.
